A friend provided me with the questions & answers to network+ 612 questions. I actually only studied about 550 out of the 612. Now on the actual test
ok i sat down and right in the beginning the first question is so easy im moving along im thinking i havent got a hard question yet i finished in 30minutes. (really!) i went through and double check everything and i passed!
I got more questions of the troubleshooting methodology questions than any other question. No cidr, no t568a/b wiring schemes, like maybe 4 osi model questions. Maybe 2 questions about cat cabling. Quite a few about 802.11a/b/g/n maybe 4 or 5 security questions.
I will give myself a couple weeks off and then tackle a+. In the meantime im updating my resume and applying for a new job. Lol!

Experimental finance, like all experimental studies of complex systems, suffers from a problem of "external validity" - it is not clear that a few inexperienced undergrads trading $20 worth of made-up assets in a lab is anything like a real-world market with thousands of supercomputer-armed professionals trading trillions of actual assets over the course of years. This doesn't mean that finance experiments are useless for studying market outcomes, but it does put a limit on their use.
This problem, however, is much less severe if what you are studying is not market outcomes, but individual behavior. An individual is easy to stick in a lab. The person sitting in the lab is probably pretty similar to the person sitting in front of eTrade buying stocks at home. This weakens the "external validity" critique; it's a lot easier to claim that individual trader behavior in a lab is similar to individual trader behavior in the real world.
There has long been a strain of behavioral finance that studies the mistakes that individual investors make. The most famous example is the work of Terrance Odean, who has shown in a number of empirical studies that small investors (a.k.a. you and I) trade too much, make dumb choices, and eventually lose money. This may or may not result in the overall market being efficient (so keep your pants on, EMHers!), but it is certainly bad for the average American household, which often ends up throwing its money in a toilet. Figuring out exactly?why?people are throwing their money in a toilet is a major goal of finance research. There are a number of hypotheses - Odean has suggested overconfidence and the disposition effect. One idea in my job market paper was that people over-rely on prices as signals of fundamental value.
But anyway, these aren't just theoretical questions that people can bandy about for fun. We can actually stick people in a lab and find out! Thus, it made me quite happy last Friday when I got to see Terry Odean present a paper in which he does exactly that. In "Bubbling with Excitement: An Experiment" (Lin, Odean, and Andrade 2012), the authors show their lab subjects videos designed to evoke various emotions - excitement, fear, boredom. The subjects then trade in small groups, in the classic market setup of Vernon Smith. They found that excited groups of traders give rise to bigger bubbles and longer-lasting bubbles. Unlike most papers in this literature, Odean makes sure to use a large number of trading groups (48, compared to the typical 5-20), allowing him to statistically test his hypothesis (naturally, this was more expensive than the typical experiment).
This is an important result, because it opens up avenues for more research. We need to find out why excitement makes people overpay for assets! This means more experiments, of course, but that's how science progresses. Compared to particle physics, experimental finance is incredibly cheap, and has potentially enormous consequences for human welfare (and for your pocketbook).
Of course, even though the "external validity" problem is reduced when asking about individual behavior, it is not eliminated. Real-world traders, even if they lack experience and sophisticated tools, often have huge amounts of time at their disposal and are playing for big stakes. These are critiques that future experiments will partially address, and eventually the results of experiments will have to make testable predictions about large empirical datasets. But the future for this sort of work looks bright. I think that one thing we need to do is to move beyond the simple setup pioneered by Vernon Smith, and create laboratory markets that can capture a wider array of phenomena (a view shared by Jorg Oechssler?of the University of Heidelberg). This is one thing that I plan to work on while at Stony Brook next year.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) ? Baylor was cruising, the Lady Bears' reserves were waiting to check in and there seemed to be little excitement.
Then Brittney Griner got behind the Georgia Tech defense and everyone in the arena knew what could be coming.
Baylor's 6-foot-8 All-American didn't disappoint.
Griner threw down a two-handed dunk to cap a sensational performance and the Lady Bears stormed into the NCAA regional finals for the third straight year with an 83-68 victory over Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Griner, who finished with 35 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks, took a pass from Brooklyn Pope and soared in for her dunk with 6:29 left in yet another rout for the Lady Bears ? swinging briefly on the rim for good measure.
"I wanted to get one in this game," said Griner, who was almost nonchalant about her crowd-pleasing play. "Brooklyn got me the ball and I just went up and slammed it."
It was the second straight game in which Griner dunked and the seventh slam of her college career. She's now tied with former Tennessee star Candace Parker, whose two dunks in NCAA tournament play had been the most.
"Even though she dunks in warm-ups all the time, in the game it's just something that automatically just gets us fired up and really excited," Baylor's Odyssey Sims said. "I think we get more excited for her than she does for herself."
Destiny Williams added 18 points on 9-for-10 shooting for the top-seeded Lady Bears (37-0), who'll play second-seeded Tennessee in the regional final on Monday night, the winner advancing to the Final Four.
Baylor, the 2005 national champion, will be seeking its third Final Four appearance and second in three years. Tennessee, which has won eight titles, will try to get to the national semifinals for the 19th time.
Though her team was hopelessly behind at the time, Georgia Tech coach MaChelle Joseph didn't feel Griner was rubbing it in with her dunk. Heck, she thought it was cool.
"It doesn't bother me," Joseph said. "I think she's great for the game. I think it's awesome. Nobody wants to get dunked on, but how many people can actually say I coached in a game where a female basketball player dunked?"
Baylor took control with a 20-0 first-half run and never gave fourth-seeded Tech (26-9) a chance to answer. Sharp-shooting freshman Sydney Wallace led Georgia Tech with 32 points.
Griner dominated with her scoring (13-for-18 shooting), rebounding and intimidation on defense. Then came the dunk, which put Baylor up 77-46 ? and even the neutral fans stood and roared their approval.
A few seconds later, during a timeout, Baylor coach Kim Mulkey took Griner and the other starters out, giving the crowd another chance to salute the game's most dominating player.
"There's no doubt that Brittney Griner is definitely the best player I've ever coached against, I've ever seen play live," Joseph said. "She's a tremendous talent on both ends of the floor. But I thought their complementary players, Destiny Williams in particular, had a huge game for them, especially in the first 10 minutes of the game."
Georgia Tech made the round of 16 for the first time and came in with nine victories in the last 10 games. The Yellow Jackets showed they were serious about competing early as Wallace, who scored 51 points in the first two rounds of the tournament, hit a 3-pointer in front of the Baylor bench and dropped in a high floater over Griner that put Tech up 10-6 and forced a Baylor timeout.
Wallace had no problem showing some enthusiasm after burying her 3.
If only she and her teammates had known what was ahead.
The Lady Bears charged out of the timeout and scored the next 20 points and take a 26-10 lead ? and they did it with everyone contributing.
Griner hit three soft turnaround shots. Williams got inside for three buckets and made a leaner in the lane. Kimetria Hayden knocked down a jumper and a free throw, and Sims added three free throws. She finished with 11 points.
Mulkey said the key was beating Tech's press, which resulted in easy shots for Griner and Williams.
"Brittney got 35 points because of (her teammates') ability to handle the pressure and score at the end of the press," Mulkey said.
Tech committed seven turnovers and missed six shots while going scoreless for 6 1/2 minutes during Baylor's game-breaking surge. The Yellow Jackets would never recover.
The only thing the Lady Bears had to worry about after that was when Mulkey would order them back to practice to start working on Tennessee.
And to make sure they stayed out of the way when Griner dunked.

Since his State of the Union address, President Obama has delivered remarks at three community colleges and three public universities. He?s asked the National Governors Association to increase state funding for higher education, proposed federal incentives for colleges to rein in tuition costs, and talked about how job-skills training helps grow the economy.
Those weren?t campaign speeches; they were policy speeches. But Democrats hope there will be a political payoff from Obama?s attention to college access and affordability. The president?s focus on the issue could help him cast himself as the candidate who supports young people?s aspirations ? and provide a stark contrast to his Republican rivals.
?Politically, this is a very good issue for him, because it?s a way to appeal to an important constituency? said Trey Grayson, director of the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. For Republicans, he said, the issue of college affordability is ?tricky. There?s a strong libertarian element to the Republican base right now.?
The federal government has little room to maneuver when it comes to bending the college cost curve, experts say, and Obama?s efforts to make college more affordable have been limited in scope. But even just acknowledging the problem helps him show young voters he?s tuned in to their concerns.
?College is the single most important investment you can make in your future. And I?m proud that all of you are making that investment,? Obama told students at the University of Michigan in January. He stressed a fact students and their families know only too well: That investment is becoming more and more expensive.
?Student-loan debt has now surpassed credit-card debt for the first time ever,? Obama said. ?Think about that. That?s inexcusable. In the coming decade, 60 percent of new jobs will require more than a high school diploma.?
Adjusted for inflation, tuition and fees at public, four-year colleges went up 72 percent over the past decade, according to the nonprofit College Board. Community-college tuition and fees went up by 45 percent. At private, nonprofit four-year colleges, tuition and fees went up by 29 percent.
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York calculates that the outstanding student-loan balance now stands about $870 billion, with about two-thirds of that debt held by people under age 40. The class of 2011 ? among them the eager young freshmen who voted for Obama in 2008 ? were the most indebted graduating class in history.
?College affordability has always been one of the top two issues in all the polls that we?ve done over the past several years,? said Heather Smith, president of Rock the Vote. Young Occupy Wall Street protesters have spoken out on the topic as well.
There?s a reason why supporting higher education has long been a bipartisan platitude. Not only do well-educated citizens fare better economically, experts say, but educational achievement is an aspirational goal for almost every young people and their parents.
Yet the leading Republican presidential candidates ? when they?ve talked about higher education at all ? have either questioned its value or indicated that college costs aren?t the federal government?s problem.
Rick Santorum made headlines when he called the president ?a snob? for promoting college education. And at a town hall meeting on March 5, Mitt Romney didn?t pull punches when a high school student asked him how a Romney administration would address rising tuition.
?It would be popular for me to stand up and say, ?I?m going to give you government money to pay for your college,? but I?m not going to promise that,? Romney said, according to The New York Times blog The Loyal Opposition.
?Don?t just go to one that has the highest price. Go to one that has a little lower price where you can get a good education. And hopefully you?ll find that. And don?t expect the government to forgive the debt that you take on,? Romney said, according to The Times, receiving applause from the crowd.
Romney?s fiscally conservative comments make perfect sense in the context of the Republican primary ? even when it comes to rallying young voters. Among young GOP primary and caucus voters, Romney, Santorum, and libertarian Rep. Ron Paul of Texas are running neck-and-neck, said Peter Levine, director of the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement.
However, ?young Republicans aren?t particularly numerous,? Levine said, adding that they ?just are, at the moment, a Democratic constituency.?
The poor job market and lackluster economy have shaken young voters? confidence in Obama, and could give the Republican Party an opportunity to make inroads, said Alyssa Farah, communications director for the College Republican National Committee. ?We think we really have a selling point there for young people,? Farah said.
Skyrocketing tuition, she said, is a big part of that economic anxiety. ?We would encourage the Republican candidates to address this issue harder,? Farah said.
For both Obama and his rivals, a strong focus on higher-education costs carries risks. Ultimately, experts say, the federal government has little room to maneuver when it comes to reducing the cost of college.
The Obama campaign website highlights legislation that doubles funding for Pell grants, caps annual student-loan repayment for some borrowers, and provides tax credits for tuition expenses. But while those steps helped some students, experts say that the Obama administration hasn?t addressed the structural forces driving up higher-education costs.

McPherson said rising tuition costs hit middle- and upper-middle-class students hardest: Students too well-off to qualify for grants but not wealthy enough to pay upfront have to take on debt. The same pattern holds at private universities, where the push to provide more need-based financial aid has meant higher prices for others.
What?s needed, experts say, is a rethinking of how higher education is delivered ? more online learning, say, or a larger role for community colleges. Obama has proposed a competition, similar to the Race to the Top program, that would reward states able to bring down the cost of higher education. That sort of federal incentive could help leverage change at the state level, said Jamie Merisotis, president and CEO of the Lumina Foundation. Either way, lowering college costs is a knotty problem that states and individual institutions are perhaps best suited to take on.
The eventual Republican presidential nominee will probably take a more moderate line on higher education, analysts say. On its website, the Romney campaign has already posted a recalibrated message: ?Post-secondary education cannot become a luxury for the few; instead, all students should have the opportunity to attend a college that best suits their needs.? It?s a line that could have been plucked straight from Obama?s State of the Union address.
That plays directly into the political reality that almost every parent wants his or her child to attend college. A 2011 poll from the Pew Research Center found that 94 percent of parents have that goal for their children.

T-Mobile Closes 7 Call Centers, Cuts 1,900 Jobs
T-Mobile USA has announced that it is closing seven customer service facilities across the country by the end of June along with cutting 1,900 jobs.
It added that it could cut more jobs in the coming months. There are around 3,300 people currently employed in the seven customer service facilities that it will be shutting down. This shut down will reduce the number of call center facilities from 24 to 17.
Allentown, Fort Lauderdale, Frisco, Brownsville, Lenexa, Thorton and Redmond are the seven locations to be shut down.
"Concentrating call centers is an important step to achieve competitive cost structures to successfully compete as Challenger and value player in the wireless market," said Philipp Humm, CEO and President of T-Mobile.
"These are not easy steps to take, but they are necessary to realize efficiency in order to invest for growth," he added.
T-Mobile added that it has invited employees from the seven locations to be shut down to transfer to the other 17 facilities where around 1,400 jobs are newly added. So the remaining 1,900 will have to lose their jobs.

Severance pay and outplacement aid are offered by T-Mobile for those employees who do not opt for the transfer option. In addition, T-Mobile has announced that onsite career centers are established in the seven centers to be shut down so that employees can be offered access to job search training, tools and technologies.

Identity Theft a Common Risk
From January 2005 until November 2011, a staggering?543 million personal records were breached, reported the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse. The FTC noted that, in half of the criminal incidents in 2005, thieves obtained goods or services worth $500 or less. In 10% of cases, thieves stole at least $6,000.
ID theft has only been a crime since 1998, when Congress passed the Identity Theft and Assumption Deterrence Act, but it?s escalated as a problem. Not only do criminals use identity theft to steal assets, they also commit crimes in the name and character of the victim.
The FTC urges a ?deter-detect-defend? approach to battle ID theft, which costs consumers and businesses plenty of money and time. Deterring means safeguarding personal data to make it harder to steal and misuse. Detecting means monitoring and becoming aware of irregularities that indicate data has been stolen. Defending means reporting the crime and then taking steps to regain data security, recover stolen assets and fix misused information.
Identity theft criminals commonly use six methods to steal consumer and business information:
1. ?Dumpster diving? for papers with personal information
2. ?Skimming??stealing credit/debit card numbers when a card is processed
3. ?Phishing??pretending to be a financial institution or company and sending spam e-mail messages to get people to reveal personal information
4. Changing an address by completing a change of address form to divert bills to a criminal?s location
5. Stealing wallets, mail, checks, employer personnel records and other paperwork?through breaking-and-entering physically or electronically or bribing employees who have access to information
6. ?Pretexting??using false pretenses or tricks of social engineering to obtain personal information from consumers, financial institutions, telephone companies and other sources.
Identity theft robs a victim of time that must be urgently spent to alert police, credit bureaus, financial institutions, medical providers and others. A victim has to prove an identity loss or financial loss; close accounts; write letters to government entities; and even work with a legal advocate to recover and rebuild a stolen identity.
Likewise, the costs for legal fees can quickly add up and overwhelm a stressed victim. The loss of work time also can be costly, at the very time when financial resources are under attack by a criminal.

Obama to fast-track oil pipeline, other projects
BOULDER CITY, Nev. (AP) ? President Barack Obama will direct federal agencies to fast-track an oil pipeline from Oklahoma to Texas, backing a segment of the larger Keystone XL project that he rejected earlier this year.
The 485-mile line from Cushing, Okla., to refineries on Texas' Gulf coast would remove a critical bottleneck in the country's oil transportation system, as rising oil production has outgrown pipelines' capacity to deliver oil to refineries.
Obama's directive, to be announced Thursday, also would apply to other pipelines that alleviate choke points. It will be issued along with an executive order requiring agencies to make faster decisions on other infrastructure projects.
For Obama, the announcement provides an answer to Republicans who say his energy policies, including the rejection of the larger Canada-Texas pipeline, have contributed to high gas prices and destroyed jobs.
The longer 1,700-mile pipeline became a political flashpoint late last year when congressional Republicans wrote a provision forcing Obama to make a decision, and environmental groups waged a campaign to kill the project. In January, Obama delayed it, saying the deadline didn't leave enough time for review.
The issue has become a central focus in the heated political fight over energy development in the 2012 election.
Calgary-based TransCanada Corp. hopes to complete the $2.3 billion Oklahoma-to-Texas section next year after receiving the last approvals it needs to start construction. Many of the permits and environmental reviews already have been completed as part of the larger Keystone project, company officials said.

Alderney issues 100th Online Gaming license
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) marked its centenary this week by issuing its 100th electronic gambling license.

Mr. Prevost said that the Full Tilt Poker incident had caused no adverse affects to the channel island?s industry and claimed Alderney had received support from other jurisdictions over the way it resolved the matter.

Russia, China join U.N. council in call for Syria peace
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - In a major diplomatic blow for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Russia and China joined the U.N. Security Council on Wednesday in voicing support for U.N.-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan's bid to end violence that has brought Syria to the brink of civil war.
Western diplomats said the agreement on a statement voicing the "gravest concern at the deteriorating situation in Syria" should be a wake-up call for Assad, who has counted on support from his ally Russia to fend off international criticism of his year-long attempt to crush anti-government protests.
The statement threatens Syria with "further steps" if it fails to comply with Annan's six-point peace proposal, which calls for a cease-fire, political dialogue between government and opposition, and full access for aid agencies.
The U.S.-European push for a council statement backing Annan's mission came after Russia and China twice vetoed resolutions condemning Assad's assault on demonstrators, which the United Nations says has killed well over 8,000 civilians.
Unlike resolutions, which are legally binding and need nine votes in favor and no vetoes from the five permanent council members to pass, statements are generally non-binding but require unanimous support from the council.
Although the statement does not explicitly back an Arab League plan calling for Assad to step aside, it does include Annan's call for a political process that echoes that plan.
It voices "full support for the efforts of (Annan) to bring an immediate end to all violence and human rights violations, secure humanitarian access, and facilitate a Syrian-led political transition to a democratic, plural political system."
The statement also demands that the Syrian government stop fighting first, something Annan and the West have called for.
"The Syrian government should immediately cease troop movements towards, and end the use of heavy weapons in, population centers, and begin pullback of military concentrations in and around population centers," it said.
Once the government forces stop fighting, Syrian authorities "should work with (Annan) to bring about a sustained cessation of armed violence in all its forms by all parties."
"PRAGMATIC LOOK"
Western powers diluted the 15-nation council's "presidential statement" on Tuesday in an effort to secure the support of Russia, which had disliked language in an earlier version that it said sounded like an ultimatum for Syria, diplomats said.
Speaking at a news conference in Berlin shortly before the statement was agreed to, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made clear that Moscow fully supported the amended text.
"The council text reflects the reality in Syria and supports Annan's aims," Lavrov said after talks in Berlin with his German and Polish counterparts. "We support it fully."
"The most important thing is that there are no ultimatums ... and no suggestions as to who carries more blame," he said.
In New York, Russian U.N. Ambassador Vitaly Churkin said the council had "finally chosen to take a pragmatic look at Syria."
British U.N. Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant said the statement sends a "strong and united message to the government and all other actors in Syria that they need to respond ... immediately" to Annan's peace proposals.
German Ambassador Peter Wittig told reporters that he welcomed the "newly found unity of the council."
The council also approved informal remarks to the press that Russia had asked the council to issue condemning bomb attacks last weekend in the cities of Damascus and Aleppo.
The presidential statement is separate from a U.S.-drafted resolution calling on Syria to allow access to humanitarian aid workers in the country.
The last time the council passed a presidential statement on Syria was August 2011, although council members reached a rare unanimous agreement on informal remarks to the press on March 1 to rebuke Damascus for not allowing U.N. humanitarian aid chief Valerie Amos into the country.
Shortly after the council approved those remarks to the press, Amos was allowed to visit Damascus.
