CONCORD, NH- In partnership with Southern Wine & Spirits and Diageo, the New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) raised $11,500 for Moore*Mart Charity, an organization that supplies deployed military personnel with care packages containing food, hygiene products and entertainment items.
In November and December, Southern Wine & Spirits and Diageo contributed $.25 for each bottle of Crown Royal sold at New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets statewide, including sales from the new Crown Royal Maple Finished. In addition to the $10,000 raised at New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets, $1,500 was collected from fundraising efforts at bars and restaurants across New Hampshire. Patrons purchased a paper Crown Royal bottle for $1 or $5 which was then displayed onsite. The efforts resulted in $11,500 for Moore*Mart Charity.
During the same time frame, customers were also encouraged to drop off unused Crown Royal bags to New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlet stores. Over 5,000 bags were collected and will be used by troops as storage pouches to protect their night vision goggles.
Based in Nashua, Moore*Mart Charity strives to provide active military personnel with items to make their deployment easier, both physically and emotionally. The organization assembles and ships care packages that contain requested items such as hand warmers, sunscreen, soccer balls and t-shirts to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. ?We are proud that our New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets in partnership with Southern Wine & Spirits and Diageo can raise awareness for such a great organization,? explained the NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica. ?The monetary contribution will help Moore*Mart Charity continue to provide needed but unavailable supplies to military personnel while they are serving our country.?
During the holiday season, NHLC used their 77 New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets for the first time as collection points for the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program and New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of New Hampshire Catholic Charities. NHLC collected 1,500 new and unwrapped toys for the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program at their New Hampshire Liquor & Wine Outlets. The toys were distributed as holiday gifts to less fortunate children across the state. In addition, over 2,500 pounds of nonperishable food donations were garnered and donated to the New Hampshire Food Bank.
